On November 24, representatives of Uzbekistan’s Embassy in China held discussions with the Consular Department of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing. The meeting emphasized the need for simplifying the visa process and enhancing collaboration in consular and legal matters. Both sides also addressed key topics, including the protection of citizens’ rights, tourism development, entrepreneurship, and investment opportunities.

Visa liberalization remains a priority for Uzbekistan, which has undertaken significant reforms to facilitate travel and strengthen international partnerships. Chinese officials acknowledged Uzbekistan’s positive reforms and expressed their readiness to deepen cooperation in this area.

Progress on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Project

On November 25, Uzbekistan’s Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov met with Chinese Ambassador Yu Jun in Tashkent. A key focus of their discussions was the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, a strategic infrastructure initiative aimed at improving regional connectivity.

The parties stressed the importance of accelerating the signing of a trilateral concession agreement to advance the project. Additionally, plans for a launch ceremony to mark the beginning of construction were discussed, signaling the project’s significance for regional trade and transit.

The meeting also covered issues related to increasing the efficiency of trade and transportation between the two countries. Key topics included:

  • Expanding quotas for cargo transportation.
  • Accelerating the movement of containers through Chinese ports.
  • Increasing the frequency of flights for Uzbek airlines.

Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to cooperate in these areas, aiming to streamline logistics, enhance trade, and improve connectivity.
