The agricultural sector is embracing transformation with a series of innovative projects worth $21.4mn aimed at elevating expertise and advancing technologies. This commitment was highlighted during a recent visit by Minister of Agriculture Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov to the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture (AKIS) in Chirchik district.

Minister Abdurakhmonov emphasized the critical role of AKIS in the development of agriculture. He stressed the need for the center and its surrounding areas to mirror the principles of agrarian reform, integrating every tree, crop, and innovative practice.

The minister reviewed three projects, totaling $21.4mn, funded by a grant from the Republic of Korea. These projects involve constructing a training center for advanced fruit and vegetable farming technologies, an innovation center for smart agricultural technologies, and centers for the distribution of agricultural products and seedlings across 4.3 hectares.

Minister Abdurakhmonov provided recommendations for these projects, emphasizing the importance of aligning scientific approaches with international standards and incorporating modern technologies to maximize their impact.

Additionally, the visit included the unveiling of the Center of Excellence project, which, funded by the World Bank with a $21.7mn investment, will feature laboratory-analysis buildings for bioresearch and technologies, a National Gene Bank, Field Research and Training Centers, an International Agricultural University building, lecture halls, and residential complexes for young scientists.
