In September 2024, Uzbekistan strengthened its position in the global cement market, recording a 31.3% year-to-date (YTD) growth. In 2024, the country operated 38 cement enterprises with an annual production capacity of 35.3mn tons, which was expected to rise to 40.8mn tons by the end of the year.

In 4M24, Uzbekistan produced 4.8mn tons of cement, a 19.3% increase from the same period in 2023.

Major producers, including Kyzylkumcement, China Energy International Group Samarkand Cement, and Huaxin Cement Jizzakh, contributed nearly 1.2mn tons. Increased production has also led to a 15% drop in cement prices, with the average cost per ton now at 510,000 soums.

The industry’s growth is driven by large-scale infrastructure and housing projects, boosting demand for construction materials. Since 2017, Uzbekistan’s cement output has surged by 74.1%, with per capita production rising by 55.6%.

In January 2024, major enterprises produced 627,900 tons of cement, marking a 2.3-fold increase from January 2023.

Uzbekistan’s cement expansion is the result of long-term planning. In 2017, the country had 12 cement plants producing 8.9mn tons annually. The establishment of 25 new energy-efficient facilities has raised capacity, reaching 26.6mn tons in 2023. That year, Uzbekistan produced 15.5mn tons of cement, with per capita consumption at 431 kg—still below the global average of 510 kg, signaling further growth potential.
