Tajikistan’s exports drop 20.5% to $1.95bn in 2024  

The Treaty on Allied Relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan has officially come into force following the exchange of ratification instruments by both countries on March 31.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, as the heads of foreign affairs agencies formalized the agreement by signing a protocol on its entry into force.

The treaty was originally signed on April 18 in Dushanbe during a high-level summit, marking a step in strengthening bilateral ties.

According to the document, the treaty takes effect from the date of the exchange of ratification instruments, solidifying a new phase of strategic cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

On March 31, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Tajikistan and met with President Emomali Rahmon in Khujand to discuss strengthening strategic partnership and expanding practical cooperation. Economic ties between the two countries continued to grow, with bilateral trade surpassing $700mn in 2024.
