Uzbekistan produced over 1mn tonnes of fruit in 1H24, marking a 5.1% increase compared to the same period in the previous year, the State Statistics Agency reports. Andijan region led in fruit production, contributing 23% of the total output, followed by the Fergana region with 20.6%, and the Bukhara region with 12.6%.

The country also witnessed significant growth in vegetable production during this period. Uzbekistan’s agribusinesses produced 3.4 mn tonnes of vegetables, a 3.1% increase from the same period in 2023. Surkhandarya region was the largest producer, accounting for 17.7% of the total, while Andijan and Fergana regions followed closely with 17.5% and 13.1%, respectively.

Uzbekistan’s exports of fruits and vegetables reached $617.2 mn in 1H24. In contrast, the country imported fruits and vegetables valued at $237.9 mn during the same period. The republic’s agricultural exports, totalling 1 mn tonnes, saw an annual growth rate of 4.7%.

The agricultural products were predominantly exported to Russia, Kazakhstan, and Pakistan, reflecting strong trade ties with these countries. The growth in production and exports highlights the continued expansion of Uzbekistan’s agricultural sector and its increasing role in international markets.
