Uzbekistan and Afghanistan signed an agreement on the joint management of the Amu Darya basin and the efficient use of its water resources, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported.
During the official visit of the official delegation led by Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Jamshid Abduzukhurov to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, important agreements were reached on issues of agriculture and trade and economic relations between the two countries.
The agreement on joint management of the Amu Darya basin defines not only bilateral cooperation, but also future mutually responsible approaches on environmental sustainability in Central Asia and transboundary water resources.
«We can say that this visit opened a new era of good neighborhood and economic integration with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, — noted by the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan. – At the same time, this is another important step confirming Uzbekistan’s decisive policy in the field of regional peace, stable development and environmental security».
