Uzbekistan reached an agreement with leading Slovak companies to prepare a program of industrial cooperation, including the agro-industrial complex, localization of automotive components, pharmaceutical production, and implementation of green energy and tourism projects, according to the presidential press service.
The announcement came during talks on June 9 at the Kuksaroy residence between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico. The two leaders emphasized that bilateral relations have reached a new, more advanced level.
President Mirziyoyev described the visit as marking a “qualitatively new stage” in Uzbek-Slovak relations, noting rapid development across political, economic, and humanitarian sectors. Constructive dialogue is ongoing between the foreign ministries, and business and cultural exchanges have intensified.
Trade between the two countries is growing steadily. Uzbekistan exports textiles, agricultural products, electrical engineering goods, chemicals, and polymers to Slovakia, while Slovakia supplies rubber, automotive parts, pharmaceuticals, and other industrial products.
To further enhance trade, the sides agreed on eliminating technical barriers and establishing a joint quantum standard laboratory as part of new agreements in technical regulation and metrology.
Digital innovation and startup investment were also highlighted as promising areas for cooperation. Both countries discussed creating a joint venture fund to accelerate IT startups and increase digital collaboration.
In education and culture, the parties agreed to launch joint research programs, including partnerships with Comenius University in Bratislava, and to promote cultural exchanges through exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, and museum projects.
Organized labor migration was another focus, with Slovakia expressing interest in systematic cooperation in this area.
Both sides exchanged views on international issues and confirmed mutual support in multilateral platforms. They also agreed to develop a comprehensive roadmap to ensure the effective implementation of all agreements reached during the meeting.
