According to Uzbekistan’s Civil Aviation Agency, the permit was issued under the framework of the intergovernmental agreement on air services between Uzbekistan and China. The airline will serve two key routes: Tashkent–Beijing and Urumqi–Tashkent–Urumqi.

Flights will be operated using Boeing 737-800/8 (MAX) and Airbus A330-300/200 aircraft, reflecting the airline’s commitment to deploying modern and efficient planes on these routes.

The approval follows negotiations held in June 2024 between aviation authorities from both nations. During the discussions, Uzbekistan proposed significant changes to the bilateral air services agreement, including the removal of restrictions on the number of airlines and destinations, as well as an increase in weekly flights from 50 to 100 for each side.

A formal document reflecting the new terms was signed, paving the way for increased air traffic and the introduction of new routes aimed at boosting tourism, business, and cultural exchange.

Founded in 1988, Air China is one of the largest carriers in China, with a network spanning around 200 cities globally. The airline operates a fleet of more than 500 aircraft.
