Youngest mayor in Kyrgyzstan lives in Batken

There are 33 cities in Kyrgyzstan, including cities of republican significance – Bishkek and Osh.

Mayors of Bishkek, Osh and cities of regional significance are appointed by President.

Mayor of Razzakov town of Batken region Chyngyzbek Rysov was born on December 17, 1991 and is the youngest mayor in the country for today.

Razzakov, Aidarken, Kada,jay, Kok-Jangak, Kerben, Kochkor-Ata, Toktogul, Cholpon-Ata, Kara-Suu, Nookat, Uzgen, Kemin, Orlovka, Kayindy, Shopokov, Bazar-Korgon and Shamaldy-Say are towns of district significance.

In accordance with the law on local state administrations and local self-government, mayors of cities of district significance are appointed by head of the district.

Batken, Kyzyl-Kiya, Sulukta, Jalal-Abad, Tash Kumyr, Kara-Kul, Mailu-Suu, Karakol, Balykchy, Naryn, Tokmok and Talas are the towns of regional significance. Kara-Balta and Kant also received the status of the town of regional significance in the beginning of 2024.
