Uzbekistan hosts a total of 13,880 enterprises with foreign investment as of July 1, 2024, comprising 4,221 joint ventures and 9,659 foreign enterprises, the Statistics Agency reported.
The trade sector leads with the highest number of foreign-invested companies, totaling 4,833. Following closely are the industrial sector with 3,091 enterprises, and the construction sector with 985 companies.
The information and communication sector houses 954 foreign-invested enterprises, while the accommodation and food services sector has 548. The transportation and storage sector contains 474 such enterprises.
Additionally, the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector includes 385 companies, and the healthcare and social services sector comprises 184 enterprises. Other sectors collectively account for 2,426 enterprises.
In June, Uzbekistan experienced a nearly 20% increase in enterprises with foreign investments compared to the previous year. The number of registered enterprises with foreign investments has grown to 20,558, up from 17,478 during the same period in 2023.
In addition, Uzbekistan saw a rise in foreign visitors traveling for business in the first half of 2024, with 65,000 international business travelers arriving. This number marks an increase of 42,000 people, or nearly 2.8 times more, compared to the same period the previous year.
