Kazakhstan has made progress in its grain harvesting campaign, with approximately 75% of the harvest completed across 13mn hectares of fields as of September 27. This achievement is attributed to favorable weather conditions in the country’s primary grain-growing regions. 

Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin chaired a meeting at the operational headquarters to discuss the essential support needed for farmers to maintain an uninterrupted harvesting process, aiming for completion by the end of October.

During the meeting, key topics included the distribution of reduced-price diesel fuel, liquefied gas for drying complexes, and the pricing of barley and class 4 wheat. Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov reported that, as of the same date, elevators had received 3.376mn tons of grain, including 2.476mn tons of wheat. 

Among the wheat received, 1.4mn tons are classified as grade 3 (56.2%), while 701.4 thousand tons are classified as grade 4 (28.3%), and 263,100 tons as grade 5 (10.6%). Notably, nearly 95% of the received barley is classified as grade 2 grain.

Given the potential for increasing the harvest of grades 4 and 5 wheat, farmers have requested the early announcement of forward purchase prices for this grain. In response, Zhumangarin directed the Food Corporation to announce these prices next week.

Additionally, deliveries of affordable liquefied gas for grain drying complexes have commenced in key grain-growing areas, and the shipment of diesel fuel is proceeding as per the established delivery plans. The meeting also addressed the progress of mineral fertilizer shipments, which are essential for fall soil application. While overall shipments are at 84%, some regions are experiencing delays. Zhumangarin has instructed to expedite these shipments to ensure timely fertilizer application for farmers.
