Between January and July, Kyrgyzstan imported 14,900 tons of tomatoes from Turkmenistan, amounting to $8.7mn. This represents a notable increase compared to the same period in the previous year, when 12,200 tons of tomatoes, valued at $7.6mn, were imported.

Turkmenistan remains the primary supplier of tomatoes to Kyrgyzstan, holding over 80% of the market share. In the first half of 2024, Kyrgyzstan had already recorded a 15% increase in tomato imports, according to earlier reports. During this period, the country imported 18,269 tons of tomatoes worth nearly $12mn, compared to 18,000 tons valued at $10.4mn in the same period of 2023.

The steady rise in both the volume and value of tomato imports highlights Kyrgyzstan’s growing demand for Turkmen tomatoes, further strengthening Turkmenistan’s position as a key player in the Kyrgyz tomato market.
