Working in the Land of the Rising Sun: conditions for labor migration to Japan

The Migration Service of the Ministry of Labor, Migration, and Employment of the Population invites Tajik citizens to enroll in Japanese language courses for future employment in Japan.  According to information provided to Asia-Plus, registration has already begun and will last for more than two weeks.

According to the source, only 60 individuals will be selected to take part in the training, which will last three months.  The source emphasized that one of the main conditions for working in Japan is proficiency in the Japanese language at a conversational level.

It was noted that "citizens who successfully learn the language will be registered for employment in various sectors in Japan in 2026."

The Ministry added that citizens who already know Japanese or have completed other language courses can take an exam and register for work in Japan.

 

Which sectors will the work be in and what is the salary?

According to the Migration Service, Tajik citizens will be sent to Japan to work in sectors such as industrial goods production, construction, shipbuilding, transportation, aviation, railways, fisheries, agriculture, forestry, and the timber processing industry.

Citizens aged 20 to 39, with no criminal record and possessing conversational Japanese skills, can apply for registration with the Ministry of Labor.

Tajik citizens will be sent to Japan in 2026, although the exact number has not yet been determined.

Salaries start at US$12 per hour, and workers will be provided with housing and three meals a day by their employer.  However, workers will have to cover the costs of their visa and flight tickets.

It is worth noting that during a recent meeting with journalists, Tajikistan's Minister of Labor, Migration, and Employment, Soleha Kholmahmadzoda, shared that agreements have been signed with several countries, including Japan, for labor migration cooperation.

She mentioned that in 2024, the Ministry signed over 40 cooperation documents with 15 countries, including Japan, South Korea, Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkiye, and others.
