At an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, held on July 12, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov highlighted achievements in the country’s construction sector. According to TDH, the sector recorded one of the highest GDP growth rates, reaching 9.3% for the first half of the year.
The Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan and the Investment Program for 2024 have driven substantial investments in the construction sector. In the period from January to June, capital investments amounted to 15.4 manats ($4.4bn). This figure represents a 21% increase compared to the same period last year, showing the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and industrial capacity.
During the first half of the year, Turkmenistan witnessed the creation of new enterprises and the commissioning of industrial facilities and residential buildings. These developments covered a total area of 454 thousand square meters, reflecting the country’s vigorous efforts to expand its industrial base and improve living standards.
The Ministry of Construction and Architecture of Turkmenistan reported a remarkable performance, fulfilling its plan by 107.8% over the six-month period. Additionally, the Ministry of Industry and Construction Production produced goods and executed projects valued at 880mn manats ($252mn).
The achievements in the construction sector are aligned with Turkmenistan’s broader socio-economic development goals. The government’s strategic initiatives aim to bolster economic growth, create jobs, and enhance the quality of life for its citizens.
