As part of the criminal case, authorities identified seven individuals allegedly involved in the attempted murder. For reference, Djavlan Yunusov is currently wanted by Interpol.
On October 26, Komil Allamjonov, the former head of the Information Policy Department in the Presidential Administration, was targeted in a shooting incident in the Qibray district. Attackers fired multiple shots at his Range Rover before fleeing the scene.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 25.97 of Uzbekistan’s Criminal Code, which pertains to attempted murder. Authorities have swiftly advanced in their investigation, arresting one suspect on October 27 and three more the following day.
Allamjonov had resigned from his role in the Presidential Administration on September 30, 2024, citing plans to pursue opportunities in the private sector.
Earlier, Sarvar Ashurov was dismissed from his role as Assistant Prime Minister and head of the Prime Minister’s reception office. This removal, which is believed to be connected to the recent assassination attempt on Komil Allamjonov, has led to shifts within the government.
Alongside Sarvar Ashurov, his brother, Alijon Ashurov, was also relieved of his position as head of the internal security department at the State Security Service. Reports indicate that Alijon Ashurov interfered with the investigation into the attempted assassination of Komil Allamjonov, prompting his dismissal.
Several other senior officials have also been dismissed in connection with the case, including Abdusalam Azizov, chairman of the State Security Service, as well as the head of the Criminal Investigation Service and the first deputy head of the Tashkent City Police Department from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
