Leninskiy District Court Judge sentenced to 1 million som fine

The Bishkek City Court announced verdict for Leninskiy District Court Judge Nurlan Kenzhebaev on Sept 17.

The ruling of the first instance court was upheld, AKIpress was told in the Bishkek City Court on Oct 22.

Judge Kenzhebaev was detained in April 2023 over extortion and acceptance of $2,000 bribe for a favorable decision in the criminal case. The consultant of the Judge and a close friend of the family, who acted as intermediaries, were detained also.

Nurlan Kenzhebaev was sentenced to 2 million som fine. Given that the judge was held in custody for a long period of time, the sentence was softened and the fine was reduced to 1 million som.

On October 16, the Judicial Council submitted a recommendation to the President on termination of judge powers ahead of term.
